WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY “A SOCIAL JUSTICE COMPONENT”?
In/Motion encourages the submission of work with a social justice theme or component, including but not limited to projects that explore issues of gender or racial equality, LGBT advocacy, environmental sustainability, etc. The work might touch on issues of social justice in its content OR there can be some social justice mission or component to its creation; for example, perhaps the work was created for and by LGBT teenagers.
DOES MY SUBMITTED DANCE FILM HAVE TO BE MADE IN 2016?
No, In/Motion encourages dance filmmakers to submit their work they think best fits In/Motion’s mission, but preference will be given to recent work or work not screened previously in the Chicago-land area.
IS THERE A RECOMMENDED LENGTH REQUIREMENT?
For the Juried Screening, work must be at or shorter than 15 minutes. Please contact us if you have a film that you would like to submit but does not meet that requirement.
WHEN AND HOW WILL I HEAR BACK IF MY FILM HAS BEEN ACCEPTED OR NOT ACCEPTED INTO IN/MOTION?
You will be notified via email by February 1st, 2017 if your film has or has not been accepted into In/Motion.
DOES MY FILM NEED TO HAVE A SOCIAL JUSTICE COMPONENT?
No, the submitted work does not need to have a social justice component to be accepted. In/Motion encourages all dance filmmakers to apply.
DO I HAVE TO BE A STUDENT TO SUBMIT A FILM?
No, In/Motion encourages students and non-students to apply.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY “LIVE OR INTERACTIVE MEDIA ELEMENTS”?
Live or interactive elements may include a live performance component, special lighting or other tech, other technical props, multiple projectors, etc. Please notify or ask In/Motion if you are unsure.
DO I NEED TO HAVE A PASSWORD FOR MY VIMEO OR YOUTUBE LINK?
No, only include the video’s password if your film is not publicly listed or view-able on Vimeo or Youtube.
